How To Open A Bottle With Anything
For those used to twist off bottles and aluminum cans in the U.S., a near total lack of twist off bottles, and the frequency that everything from beer, to soda, to sometimes even juice comes in glass bottles can lead to a problem of the missing bottle opener. What are you to do if you find yourself without an actual bottle opener?
All it takes is something that you can wedge under the bottlecap! Depending on the person (and some practice), I've seen bottles opened with everything from disposable lighters, other beer bottles (maybe practice this one first so you don't make a mess), to even folded paper.
The key is to hold the bottle right under the bottlecap, so that your hand is butts up against the bottom of the cap itself. Using whatever hard object you have at hand, wedge it under the cap, and use your hand to leverage the bottle cap up. You'll have to go slower than you would with a normal bottle opener, as the cap isn't going to just pop off the way that it does with a more typical opener.
Even if you don't make a habit of drinking things that come in non-screw top bottles, it's worth figuring out how to open them without needing an opener. Or just getting a keychain opener, like many people over here do.
