Help! Call 911! - Emergency Services in Germany

Help!  Call 911!  ...But this is Germany and 911 doesn't (usually) work over here.  What do you have to do to get some help around here?

If you need the police (Polizei), call 110.  Depending on your area, there may not be someone on the other end of the line that speaks English.  In most cities, you should be okay, but if they don't speak English and you really don't speak German, get someone to help you.  Look up as well to see if there is an English language police hotline in your city.  If there is, put it in as contact in your phone.

If you need the fire department (Feuerwehr) or an ambulance (Rettungsdienst), dial 112.  As before, the operator may not speak German, and as before, get help if they don't.

Should you be calling on a cell phone, which you likely are in an emergency situation, if you can't remember the correct numbers, dialing 911 will get you through to the emergency services.  This will not work on landlines.

DON'T ASSUME SOMEONE ELSE WILL CALL IF YOU DON'T DO IT!
